Hey, Meredith; The advice on sun glasses is great, but I think the bigger point here is that you hit that lid completely unprepared and did not upset! That, to me, speaks for stability with the LS 650. Some time ago, I hit a groundhog like that and the bike just bounced right over it without wobbling at all. I thought at the time that the bike showed itself to be quite stable, given that I had once hit a rabbit with a Harley 74, and the big bike did wobble. Gives you some confidence, right? Frank M
